Body Composition Analysis (VLA)

As featured in Good Health magazine (March 2011)

This test can tell you if your diet and exercise program are working for you!

 WHAT IS BIOIMPEDANCE ANALYSIS (BIA)?

BIA is a scientifically validated test that was originally developed for use in monitoring hospital patients after surgery. It has also been used in a number of space missions to monitor astronauts' health. Our staff will connect leads to your hands and feet, passing a small current through your body. This is a painless procedure which provides information on several of your body's biomarkers.

WHAT DO BIOMARKERS TELL YOU ABOUT YOUR HEALTH?

Biomarkers are parameters that measure an aspect of your health. They enable our Medical Nutritionist to tell you:

  • Body composition (bone, fat and lean muscle tissue)
  • Biological Age
  • Fat Mass (in kg and %)
  • Muscle Mass (in kg and %)
  • Fluid retention levels
  • Toxicity
  • Inflammation
  • Hydration Levels
  • Cellular Function and Health

Most importantly, it enables us to tell you whether your diet and exercise program is working, or if not, advice on how to get it right. No other test provides all of this information so quickly and easily.

WHAT WILL I RECEIVE?

Our Medical Nutritionist will perform a quick test and then enter your results into a computer. You will be given a copy of your health report, including your key biomarkers. Over time, your results can be compared, so you have a very clear idea of your progress.

PREPARATION FOR THE TEST

To get the most accurate results:

  • Empty your bladder before the test.
